The working principle of the vacuum engine is as follows : A flame is drawn into a cylinder, which is closed using a valve. The air in the cylinder is heated and thus expands, pushing the piston out. The flame in the closed cylinder extinguishes and consequently the air inside quickly cools down, causing it to contract. External atmospheric pressure pushes the piston back with the help of the inertia of the flywheel. The valve re-opens the process starts again.
