The Beechcraft Model 18 originated in 1937 as a civil transport. During World War II it was widely used in the military as a training and transport aircraft. The model was updated continuously resulting in a very long life as a very competitive aircraft on many markets. The Super 18 appeared in 1953 with a considerably improved wing and more powerful engines. A total of 6.326 Beech 18's were built, including 762 Super 18's. After 32 years the production ceased at last in 1969.
The model
This museum quality (highest level of fidelity to the original) aircraft display model is produced in perspex (pmma, also known as plexiglass).
Each model of plane whose construction is performed one by one for each single customer order, is carved in the workshop on the basis of plans of the original plane, starting from a block of perspex. After this long stage of precise handcrafting of volume, the future model of plane is polished and airbrushed to a very fine degree with an excellent level of realism, based on photographs or descriptive documents of the original planes.
Windows are kept clear. The result is an exceptional aircraft model.
