A combination of two Maori symbols: the Koru (circle) and the Matau (fish hook). The Koru opens up as each new front of a fern leaf. Therefore it depicts the meaning, new beginnings and growth/development. The Fish Hook represents strength and determination and brings peace, prosperity and good health. Also provides safe journey over water. Traditionally the Fish Hook was good luck for a Maori to wear this symbol whilst fishing. Nephrite Jade.

The Simbolica Maori collection pieces were made by artisans in New Zealand and are based on the old symbolism from Maori Culture. Most statues and pendants were carved from Nephrite Jade although you will also find some pendants made of bone.
