A Jadeite Jade replica of the goddess of child birth, also called Ixcuna or Ixcuina. The goddess is shown dropping her buttocks in the typical crouching position of indigenous women in childbirth, This emotional piece, first published about 50 years ago, is generally regarded as one of the finest examples of Aztec sculpture. The original statue was carved in aplite, speckled with garnets.
